Health Ministry Bans Erection Problems Medicine, Issues Stiff Warning to Sellers
The Health Ministry has banned Aman Liquid, an old-fashioned medicine accustomed to treat erection problems as it contains Yohimbine, a poisonous substance from the Scheduled Poison list.
Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the ministry’s director-general, said inside a statement, the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has urged individuals to avoid acquiring the product since it's registration is cancelled.
“The registration with the product, belonging to Vital Force Enterprise, was cancelled on Sept 27,” he stated. He said Yohimbine became a type of alkaloid found inside a plant species, Pausinystalia yohimbe (typically referred to as Yohimbe) that's native to west and central Africa, and used just as one aphrodisiac.
“The utilization of Yohimbine will not be allowed in medicines that are classified as traditional.
“The consumption in the poison can lead to serious uncomfortable side effects such as improvement in blood pressure and increased heartrate.
“It may be dangerous to women that are pregnant, and the ones with high blood pressure level, kidney and liver problems,” said Hisham.
He added how the ministry have issued a stern reminder to sellers and distributors to quit the sale and distributions with the product immediately.
“Sellers ought to be mindful that selling this banned strategy is a violation within the Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984, that can bring a fine of not more than RM25,000 or three years’ jail term, or both and RM50,000 or several years, or both with the subsequent offence.
“As for companies, they may also face an excellent of up to RM50,000 for that first offence and RM100,000 for your subsequent offence,” he added.
He also urged people who have been consuming the product to avoid immediately and seek medical health advice if they were facing any discomfort or effects through the consumption.
“The public may also call NPRA at 03-78835400 for virtually every inquiries, information as well as check the registration status of an product,” he added.
